About The Channel:
Zee Entertainment Enterprises owns Zee Bangla, a general entertainment pay television station in Bengali.
Together with Alpha TV Marathi, Alpha TV Telugu, and Alpha TV Punjabi, the station was first introduced as Alpha TV Bangla on September 15, 1999. It was India’s first satellite television channel in the Bengali language.
The new logo for all Zee channels, which looked more like the number two than the letter Z, was unveiled on June 19, 2011.
Samrat Ghosh took over as the channel’s director in 2019. On October 7, 2018, the channel’s new visuals were unveiled during Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. By number of viewers, it was among the biggest Bengali-language TV stations in India in February 2020.
Bangladesh enforced a block on international television channels that aired advertisements on September 30, 2021, including Zee Bangla. Zee Bangla returned to broadcasting in Bangladesh two weeks later but without the ads. After five years, Zee Bangla altered its visuals once more on October 14, 2023.
