Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Uttarakhand PCSJ 2024 (Junior Division) Examination, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

• Candidates must have a degree in law from a recognized university.
• Candidates must be between 22 to 35 years of age as of 1st January of the year in which the notification is published.
• Age relaxation is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per the government’s rules.
• Candidates must be a citizen of India.
• Candidates must have knowledge of Hindi in the Devanagari script.
• Applicants should have the domicile of Uttarakhand in order to take the benefits of the application.
• The age relaxation for the applicants of reserved category candidates such as SC and ST will be of 5 years.

Details of the Preliminary examination:

• The 1st stage of the exam will be of Preliminary exam & which will be comprised of 2 question papers.
• There will be a question paper of general study (GS) of 50 marks.
• The 2^nd question paper will be of law (subjective knowledge) of 150 marks.
• Both the question paper will be objective in nature & they will have MCQ.

Details of the Main examination:

• The main exam will be of descriptive nature & applicants will write the answers to the questions asked in the exam.
• No specific pattern or syllabus for the interview assessment test.
• The interview will be held by the board of specialists & it will be an oral conversation where applicants will be asked questions related to the current scenarios & how the law can be strengthened.

Uttarakhand PCSJ 2024 Selection Process:

The selection process for the Uttarakhand PCSJ 2024 (Junior Division) Examination consists of two stages:

1. Written Examination: The written examination is conducted in three stages: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Language Test. The preliminary examination consists of objective-type questions and is conducted to shortlist candidates for the main examination. The main examination consists of subjective-type questions and tests the candidate’s knowledge of civil laws, criminal laws, and other legal aspects. The language test is conducted to test the candidate’s knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script.
2. The Main examination for the PCSJ (Provincial Civil Service – Judicial) examination consists of six papers, as follows:

   1. Paper-I: General Knowledge – This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of current affairs, Indian history, geography, economy, and politics.

   2. Paper-II: Language – This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of the official language of the state in which they are applying.
   3. Paper-III: Law-I (Substantive Law) – This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of substantive law, including the Indian Penal Code, the Indian Evidence Act, and the Code of Civil Procedure.
   4. Paper-IV: Law-II (Procedure and Evidence) – This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of procedural law, including the Criminal Procedure Code, the Limitation Act, and the Registration Act.
   5. Paper-V: Law-III (Penal, Revenue, and Local Laws) – This paper tests the candidate’s knowledge of the penal, revenue, and local laws applicable in the state.

   6. Paper-VI: For Basic Knowledge of Computer Operation Practical Examination 

3. Viva-Voce/Interview: Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the viva-voce/interview stage. The interview is conducted to evaluate the candidate’s knowledge, understanding, and suitability for the position of civil judge.

Final selection is based on the candidate’s performance in both stages of the examination. Candidates who qualify in the written examination but fail to secure the minimum qualifying marks in the interview will not be considered for selection.

The final merit list is prepared based on the total marks obtained by the candidate in the written examination and the interview.
